The analysis step shows the instructor what are the weaknesses and strengths of students which can provide the instructor with an overall plan of where to start in this class. In this phase, the instructor needs to lay out a plan that shows what students need to learn from the lesson, what is the best philosophical theory that fits students abilities to learn, what kind of tools are necessary to deliver the class materials, and what are the desired objectives, In other words, the analyze phase enable the instructor to understand students’ backgrounds in order to know where to start from.

Description of personal theory- Week 2

September 10, 2008

My personal theory of learning is collaborativsim where students and their instructor hold a mutual level of communication that benefits everyone in the classroom. For example, to teach new software features that are relevant to a class material requires detailed discussion from both sides students and their instructor. Students will share what they have learned about the software with each other as well as their instructor. This example shows how collaborative learning is being indirectly applied into the classroom. According to (Salvin,1990) collaborativism is where learning emerges through interaction of individuals with other individuals, because learning occurs as students exercise, verify, solidify, and improve their mental models through discussion and information sharing.
