CECS 6100 – week2

January 27, 2010

On the discussion board, there was a topic that did not make me angry as much as it upset my expectations for UNT. It was when one student decided to criticize our school University of North Texas (UNT), and compare it to the top schools in Texas. UNT does not receive the amount of money that other top schools receive; second of all, UNT has a self sustained budget that is almost capable to meet modern education needs. UNT is constantly trying to provide students with the best public education to make students well-prepared for market’s demands. I believe that UNT has come a long way in improving its educational system and the learning environments that students need to meet market’s demands. For example, distance learning systems or learning management systems such as blackboard, UNT has bought the vista version of Blackboard which is considered incompetent among many instructors.  Later on and due to instructors and students requirement, UNT decided to purchase the actual blackboard, because of its efficiency and advanced learning features. In other words, UNT is continually upgrading its learning environments and tools to make them compatible of the outside market needs. In the near future, UNT will improve its ranking among the nation’s schools.
